Check the cartridge code

Samsung identifies several refrigerator filter families, including HAF-CIN, HAF-QIN, and HAFCU1. HAF-CIN is commonly associated with DA29-00020B, while HAF-QIN is associated with DA97-17376B. The cartridges are not universal Samsung filters.

The most reliable process is to compare the complete refrigerator model with Samsung's official guidance and then confirm the code printed on the installed cartridge.

Why a filter may refuse to turn

A wrong filter, trapped water pressure, a protective cap left in place, or misaligned locking tabs can prevent installation. Shut off the water supply if instructed, dispense water to relieve pressure, and try again without force. If the tabs or diameter differ, stop and recheck the part.

  • HAF-CIN and HAF-QIN have different fit requirements.
  • Use the old cartridge as a visual cross-check, not the only source.
  • Do not transfer or modify locking components.
  • Inspect the O-rings and housing for damage before installation.

After replacement

Follow the refrigerator manual for flushing volume, then inspect the filter housing during the first several dispensing cycles. Reset the filter indicator only after the new cartridge is correctly seated. Samsung commonly offers six-month replacement subscriptions, but actual timing should follow the model instructions and water use.

Manufacturer and standards sources

Compatibility and instructions can change. Use these primary sources and your refrigerator manual for final confirmation.
