Start inside the fresh-food compartment

Open the refrigerator door and inspect the side walls, ceiling, door frame, and area behind the crisper drawers. Most manufacturers place a permanent rating label in one of these locations. The label normally includes both a model number and a serial number; the model number is the one needed for filter matching.

Use a phone flashlight and take a clear photo before typing anything. Model labels often use small print, and characters such as 0 and O or 1 and I are easy to confuse.

Copy the complete model

Do not stop after the first few characters. A suffix can identify a finish, revision, capacity, or production series that uses a different part. Enter every letter and number shown in the model field, but omit spaces and decorative punctuation when using our finder.

  • Model number: identifies the appliance design and compatible parts.
  • Serial number: identifies the individual appliance and production details.
  • Filter number: printed on the removable cartridge and useful as a second check.

If the label is missing

Check the owner's manual, purchase receipt, delivery email, or the appliance listing in the manufacturer's account portal. A filter cartridge already installed in the refrigerator can narrow the search, but it should not be the only evidence—an earlier owner may have installed an incorrect or look-alike cartridge.

When the model number and existing filter disagree, use the manufacturer's official parts or filter finder before ordering.
