MWFP is the current replacement name
GE identifies MWFP as the current product that replaced the older MWF designation. Shoppers may therefore see MWF in an appliance manual, on an older cartridge, or in a search while current manufacturer listings use MWFP.
The change in retail part number does not mean every GE refrigerator uses this family. GE also sells XWFE, RPWFE, and other cartridges with different housings and requirements.
Verify the appliance model
Use GE's filter finder or parts information with the complete refrigerator model. If the official result names MWFP, compare the old MWF reference and the physical connection as secondary checks.
- Search the complete refrigerator model
- Confirm MWFP in GE's current result
- Treat MWF as an older reference
- Do not substitute XWFE or RPWFE
- Check the package before opening
Replace and flush correctly
GE describes MWF/MWFP as a twist-and-lock filter family. Follow the refrigerator manual for pressure relief, removal, installation, flushing, and indicator reset because the precise sequence can vary by model.
If the filter will not turn with light hand pressure or leaks after installation, stop and recheck the model and part rather than modifying the cartridge.
