The number identifies a filter family

EveryDrop Filter 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are separate physical designs. The number is not a quality tier and a higher number is not an upgrade. Each family has its own housing shape, locking method, and legacy part numbers.

Start with the refrigerator model number or the number printed on the existing genuine cartridge. Never choose based only on a product photograph.

Current part numbers

The common current part numbers are EDR1RXD1, EDR2RXD1, EDR3RXD1, EDR4RXD1, EDR5RXD1, and EDR6D1. Packaging may also list older numbers that the current cartridge replaces.

  • Filter 1 — EDR1RXD1
  • Filter 2 — EDR2RXD1
  • Filter 3 — EDR3RXD1
  • Filter 4 — EDR4RXD1
  • Filter 5 — EDR5RXD1
  • Filter 6 — EDR6D1

Avoid the most common mistake

A retailer search may show several EveryDrop filters beside one another. Similar branding does not establish compatibility. Confirm the model in the manufacturer's filter finder, compare the printed part number, and inspect the connection end before opening the package.

Whirlpool commonly recommends replacement every six months or at the rated gallon limit, but check the specifications for the exact filter family.
